Bright colors tease my hungering eyes

Taste and texture please my lips and tongue

Bouquet seizes my imagination

With acidic stains on my fingertips

I tear with zest and peel through

skin and pith to reach

the tender pulp and luscious juice

I take in plump sections

one or two or three at a time

and spit out the seeds

Just as if I were eating an orange
